Mississippi In-Home Newborn Photography: Real, Relaxed, and Beautifully You


There’s something sacred about those first days with a new baby. The way time seems to both stand still and rush forward. The softness of their cheeks, the weight of them in your arms, the way their older siblings seem to turn to big kids overnight. These are the kinds of moments that can’t be recreated—only preserved.


As a newborn and family photographer based in central Mississippi, I’ve had the privilege of walking into the most meaningful chapters of people’s lives. I’m honored every time a family invites me into their home—not just for photos, but for memories.

And here’s what I want you to know: your house does not need to be perfect to work with me.

There’s something truly special about documenting a family’s story right in the place where their life happens. For this family, that meant inviting me into their home out by the reservoir to capture the early days of welcoming their newest little love.


In-Home Sessions SHOULD Feel Like You


There’s something really special about telling your story right where it’s happening—where your baby’s first coos bounce off the nursery walls and your toddler giggles as they play at your feet. That’s why I love in-home newborn sessions. They’re natural, relaxed, and personal in a way nothing else can be.


And don’t worry—your house doesn’t need to be spotless. You don’t need perfect light or a Pinterest-worthy nursery. All you need is the love you already have, and a moment to breathe and just be with your people. I’ll take care of the rest.

This in-home newborn session with the Peterman family was everything I love about photographing real life—quiet moments, soft baby snuggles, and the sweet chaos that comes with a big sibling adjusting to a new little one. Their home was filled with warmth and personality, and it made the perfect backdrop for capturing this fleeting season. From their cozy sister-shared nursery to mom and dad’s sunlit living room, every space told a part of their story. Baby sister was calm and curious, and watching big sister lean in with wide-eyed wonder made my heart melt. These are the kinds of sessions that remind me how beautiful the everyday really is. I can’t wait to watch these girls grow together!

The natural light in their bedroom made for the dreamiest photos, and the gentle color palette of their home created a timeless backdrop. From soft morning light spilling through the curtains to quiet shadows in the nursery, we let the space tell its part of the story. And no, everything wasn’t "picture perfect"—it was real, and that’s what makes these images so meaningful.


Big Sis was full of personality and curiosity, already stepping into the role of proud big sibling. Watching that bond begin to form, even in the little moments—a sweet tickle, a giggle, or a peek into the bassinet—is something I’ll never get tired of witnessing.
